Converge - Axe To Fall

When i heard the first revealed tracks before the release i could tell this was going to be a promising addition to there discography. A long time fan i here elements of You Fail Me and No Heroes over any other past works, and to my surprise there were a lot of moments where Kurt (guitar) plays some jazz riffs and some blues riffs. also some of the chord choices are very jazzy and i love the sound resulting from it. lyrically, visually and musically best hardcore album this year. GET IT NOW!

New Jesu release

Jesu - Infinity

the winding road Jesu began droning down was heavy, shoegazy and beautiful, but lately the road was straightened out to a more electronic, shoegaze style. Since listening to this one 50 min song album the road is curving more and the heavy is returning. Infinity is a great mix of the electronic/shoegaze and crushing doom style he combined in the early years. after listening i realized how much i missed the guitars from Jesus' earlier releases. hopefully this is a preview of what is to come in the future for Jesu and the next full length record. Justin Broadrick is a innovator of heavy music and this record puts him back in the spot light of genre defying champions. this is a must have album!

GREYMACHINE...nuff said

Greymachine - Disconnected

Consisting of members from Godflesh, Jesu, Isis and Head Of David i had no idea what i was in for. i read some reviews before buying this and the words that continued to pop up were Hateful, Dreadful and Harsh in a good way. i am a huge Justin Broadrick fan lets face it the man is a genius. responsible for some of the most important movements in aggressive music, he has once again showed that there are no boundaries with music. this collaboration is one of the best i have yet to hear, hopefully they will continue releasing material in the future. if you like Godflesh you want this record.

Mercyful Fate - Dont Break The Oath

If you enjoy black metal or any other kind of darkened art then you (should ) know who these guys are. although not full of blast beats or blood gargling vocals these guys were very important to the black metal underground. fronted by King Diamond who shrieks and howls like a mad man, and backed by some awesome dark riffage and thunderous drumming this record is a must have for any aggressive music enthusiast.

The Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca

the latest from this amazing group, one the best records this year hands down. they have taken a different direction with the style but nothing short of beautiful, melodic and technical. some of the rhythms and riffs are so unpredictable, but the voices are angelic and harmonious beyond explanation. this is a great record go pick it up.

Money House Blessing-s/t
Arcade Sound Ltd.

the third release of the Arcade Sound Ltd. catalog, is another project led by Dustin Smith. this three song release is short but packs all the elements of a great full length record. Smith brings his influences together for a Rock/Pop/Shoegaze record that should be heard by all. on my list of best releases for 2009, available through Arcade Sound for $3

Some more reviews

Nachtmystium - Worldfall EP

the latest LP from these black metal innovators, was all i was hoping it to be. the mastermind Blake Judd has once again molded bleak dark melodies, with beautiful harmonies. the dynamics are perfectly executed and through the whole record it doesn't let up. it is pressed on a red w/black splatter record and i got 86/1000, i thought it was pretty cool to get one out of the first 100. but if you are a follower of Nachtmystium you will want this record. the last track is a cover of Goatsnake's "IV"...B R U T A L I T Y !

Gorilla Biscuits - s/t

Classic hardcore bands are a guilty pleasure of mine, yeah they all sound alike but the speed and aggression is very contagious. this 7 inch here is one the greatest (i think). Gorilla Biscuits were one the bands that paved the way for the straight edge culture. this record is fast, in your face and loud! Big Mouth is my favorite track. if you are into aggressive music and haven't heard them, you need to. these guys are important to the movement of aggressive music.

Latest LP Purchases

Final - Reading All The Right Signals Wrong

Snag this jewel at the record shop not long ago, didn't know it was even out. The latest from the genius of aggressive music Justin K. Broadrick, it is exactly what you would think. Droning ambient melodies spreading over like waves. the cover is a great example. very spacious and thick with harmonies and noises.

Wolves In The Throne Room- Malevolent Grain EP

Highly recommend this record here!  Hauntingly melodic and fast, the side A is my favorite track. Guest vocals by Jamie Meyers are beautiful and choral great addition to the extreme riffing behind it. this record also features the newest member Will Lindsay (formerly of Middian) his influence is a factor in the direction this Black Metal defying band is going. this is an excellent record.

Received my 2x LP w/back patch Xasthur "All Reflections Drained" today and W H O A ...
upon listening it vomits you into a bottomless pit of decaying sounds and horrific ambience, the guitars are eerie and creep like black tar. Malefic with thunderous drumming lurking behind the soundscapes makes your soul pound with fear. absolute brilliant orchestration of blackness, you must hear this record! takes black metal to new depths...seriously

Here is the first piece of artwork for the Swine Suicide cassette tape. this is just half of what is to come, i am currently working on the cover for this release and also working on some artwork for another project called School Spirit. School Spirit is a good old rock n roll/garage/pop band and they are putting out some good stuff in the near future! it can be heard here at:

i also received my Leviathan CD "Verrater" it is G R I M , D A R K , B E A U T I F U L and T R U E black metal. Wrest is a genius orchestrator and people should appreciate his art form, satanic or not it is still music. my values and beliefs are not of his but his music is devastating and incredible. pick this album up!
