Boris/Torche

Boris/Torche - Chapter Ahead Being Fake

This 10" is incredible. Starting with the Boris side the track "Luna" is a blasting, atmospheric and shoegaze feeling song. The melodies are beautiful and like always noisy and tasteful. Boris is and has been leading the pack for aggressive music, it is raw, fast, angelic and thought provoking.

The Torche side is the track "King Beef" and it is DEVASTATINGLY HEAVY. I love this band they have a sound and style like no one else, but this track has a Godflesh influence about it and that is not a bad thing. This record is marvelous and if you like either one of these bands get it, they are selling very quickly.

Despised Icon - Day of Mourning

I have always liked this band and the sound they create. I know people call this deathcore or whatever but it is just some juiced up metalcore. Nothing that blew me away except for the incredible drummer, seriously that man is ridiculous. Overall a good listen, sheer brute breakdowns and hyper speed blast make it enjoyable. fans wont be disappointed.

Twilight - Monument To Time End

Killer Release! probably the greatest collection of USBM musicians ever, this is truly a black metal supergroup. Better than the debut (which was still good). Eerie synths, ugly riffs and pounding drums, get this!

Jesu - Opiate Sun

I know this is late but this is worth waiting for. From start to finish this is one of JKB's finest. I really hope everyone into heavy music hears this at least once. Great Record!

Converge - Axe To Fall

When i heard the first revealed tracks before the release i could tell this was going to be a promising addition to there discography. A long time fan i here elements of You Fail Me and No Heroes over any other past works, and to my surprise there were a lot of moments where Kurt (guitar) plays some jazz riffs and some blues riffs. also some of the chord choices are very jazzy and i love the sound resulting from it. lyrically, visually and musically best hardcore album this year. GET IT NOW!

New Jesu release

Jesu - Infinity

the winding road Jesu began droning down was heavy, shoegazy and beautiful, but lately the road was straightened out to a more electronic, shoegaze style. Since listening to this one 50 min song album the road is curving more and the heavy is returning. Infinity is a great mix of the electronic/shoegaze and crushing doom style he combined in the early years. after listening i realized how much i missed the guitars from Jesus' earlier releases. hopefully this is a preview of what is to come in the future for Jesu and the next full length record. Justin Broadrick is a innovator of heavy music and this record puts him back in the spot light of genre defying champions. this is a must have album!
